Danny McBride and James Franco Go on a Quest in 'Your Highness'

Universal Pictures has released a trailer for the medieval comedy Your Highness, starring Danny McBride, James Franco, Natalie Portman, Justin Theroux, and Zooey Deschanel. Pineapple Express director David Gordon Green helms the comedy, which sees McBride and Franco on a quest to rescue a princess (Deschanel) from the evil clutches of a sexually obsessed wizard (Theroux).

Check out the trailer and synopsis below!!! Your Highness hits theaters on April 8, 2011.

Throughout history, tales of chivalry have burnished the legends of brave, handsome knights who rescue fair damsels, slay dragons and conquer evil. But behind many a hero is a good-for-nothing younger brother trying just to stay out of the way of those dragons, evil and trouble in general. Danny McBride and James Franco team up for an epic comedy adventure set in a fantastical world—Your Highness. As two princes on a daring mission to save their land, they must rescue the heir apparent’s fiancĂ©e before their kingdom is destroyed.

Thadeous (McBride) has spent his life watching his perfect older brother Fabious (Franco) embark upon valiant journeys and win the hearts of his people. Tired of being passed over for adventure, adoration and the throne, he’s settled for a life of wizard’s weed, hard booze and easy maidens. But when Fabious’ bride-to-be, Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel), gets kidnapped by the evil wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux), the king gives his deadbeat son an ultimatum: Man up and help rescue her or get cut off.

Half-assedly embarking upon his first quest, Thadeous joins Fabious to trek across the perilous outlands and free the princess. Joined by Isabel (Natalie Portman)—an elusive warrior with a dangerous agenda of her own—the brothers must vanquish horrific creatures and traitorous knights before they can reach Belladonna. If Thadeous can find his inner hero, he can help his brother prevent the destruction of his land. Stay a slacker, and not only does he die a coward, he gets front row seats to the dawn of an all-new Dark Ages.

The only Xbox that won't red ring on you!!!

Adam Berg to Make Feature Directorial Debut with Deadpool?

Apparently scheduling conflicts might prevent Robert Rodriguez from directing the big screen adaptation of Marvel comics' anti-hero Deadpool. While you might expect another big name director to fill the void left by Rodriguez, apparently an unlikely name has surfaced as a potential candidate. Though he's never directed a feature length film, 24 Frames says Swedish commercials and video director Adam Berg is their current top choice. Apparently the producers and Ryan Reynolds were impressed enough by Berg's style and resume to make him a top contender. Though you may not know Berg by name yet, you should recognize his work.

The filmmaker garnered plenty of acclaim and fame on the Internet when his stylistic short Carousel (made for a Philips TV contest) won the Cannes Lions International Advertising prize. The simultaneously simple and yet complicated short uses a seemingly seamless single-shot freeze frame following one single moment of a bank heist that gives us action, stunning visuals and a twisted story in just over two minutes. The short itself is reason enough to get excited about this guy stepping up to direct Deadpool, so I'll just let the man's work (embedded below) speak for itself.
You think this guy has what it takes to get Deadpool right?

Rumor: 'Indiana Jones' Series is Going 3D Next After Star Wars

Honestly, I'm not too surprised to hear this. We knew it was coming, right? Blue Sky Disney, who is usually quite reliable with their scoops, is reporting (hence why why we're calling this a rumor for now) that, "next month, Lucasfilm will announce that they're converting the Indiana Jones Saga to 3D as well." It was officially announced about a month ago that Lucasfilm would be converting all six of the Star Wars movies to 3D, with the first hitting theaters in early 2012, and each one following a year later. Apparently that's the same release pattern they'll be following with the three four movies from the Indiana Jones trilogy series.

No Khan for Star Trek 2, But New Villain Options Teased!!!

New rumors surrounding JJ Abrams' sequel to the hit sci-fi action blockbuster Star Trek suggest that fan-favorite Khan, a genetically engineered superman, won't be the villain in the upcoming Star Trek 2. But they do give us a strong hint as to who it will be.
Apparently, Badass News has an inside source linked to the project, who told them flat out that Khan will not be the villain, as well as this little tidbit:

"It’s definitely a character that will make fans excited. Think along the lines of Harry Mudd or Trelane or Gary Mitchell or the Talosians or the Horta. Actually it’s one of those that I named."

Is George Lucas Planning a Third Star Wars Trilogy???

Just last month, Lucasfilm officially announced that they are working on converting all six Star Wars films into 3-D for future theatrical re-releases, beginning with The Phantom Menace in 2012 and ending with Return of the Jedi in 2015 or 2016. New rumors suggest that George Lucas isn't stopping there...
According to IESB, part of Lucas' reason for re-releasing the original trilogy and its prequels is so he can self-finance three more Star Wars films, apparently sequels. Could this mean we're going to get Episodes 7, 8 and 9 after all?

Maybe, but this line from the site's scoop suggests that if they are the long-touted sequels that have existed on paper since the beginning, they're not going to be quite what everyone is expecting:

"According to our sources, the most likely scenario for the films is that they will exist in the same universe but will not have anything to do with the Skywalker Clan. That story has been told, that starship has sailed."

If it's not about Luke or Luke's kids, then what is it going to be about?

"Too early for story details but one thing that our source is certain about, they will not be prequels but instead sequels. It's not for certain if they will be the long awaited Episodes 7, 8 and 9 but could instead be Episodes 10, 11 and 12 or possibly even further out in the Star Wars timeline. And by giving space in the timeline, possibly even as far as 100 years or 1,000 years in the Star Wars universe future, Lucas avoids having to make these stories "fit in" with what the previous stories have told."

So when will we know for sure?

"The ideal plan, according to our spy at Skywalker Ranch, is to be able to release a new Star Wars film within 24 months after the release of the last re-re-release (is that right?) of Return of the Jedi 3D."

Looks like we'll be waiting a while for these, so don't get your camping gear out yet, and please don't start lining up at your local theater.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune movie!!!

Sony has officially announced with a press release that David O. Russell is set to write and direct an adaptation of the video game Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for Columbia Pictures. Avi Arad, Charles Roven, Ari Arad and Alex Gartner are producing the live-action action-adventure film that follows the adventures of treasure hunter Nathan Drake.

The action-filled story in the original Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (which now has a sequel) follows a descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake, a treasure hunter named Nate Drake who believes he's learned the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, from a cursed golden statue. Oddly, Columbia's press release barely mentions a plot, so I think that Russell may blaze his own trail and come up with his own Indiana Jones-like historic adventure story for the film.

Rhys Ifans Playing Villain The Lizard in Sony's New Spider-Man!!!

The villain is revealed.  It was reported that British actor Rhys Ifans, who was officially cast in an "unknown" villain role a while ago, will actually be playing Dr. Curt Connors, better known as The Lizard, in Marc Webb's upcoming Spider-Man reboot (confirming a rumor from earlier this year).
Well, this must really suck for Dylan Baker, who played Dr. Connors in all three of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films and was waiting for his chance to play the reptilian nemesis.  It has also been confirmed with separate sources that Venom will not be in the movie and The Lizard is indeed, at least one of, the primary villains.

The Plot of Transformers: The Dark of the Moon Revealed...

An official synopsis for Transformers: The Dark of the Moon has been leaked online via Amazon.com's description of Transformers 3 Push-Pops.
I'll put a spoiler warning before the synopsis, but to be honest, the plot details are rather thin. I've also included the Transfomers: The Dark Side of the Moon album cover picture, because we know you Pink Floyd fans love it so much.
WARNING SPOILERS BELOW!!!

The Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009’s Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There’s new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime “Transformers” character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.

Catch up with Michael Bay, Shia LaBeouf and all of their robot pals on July 1, 2011, in 3D.

The Hobbit Finally Gets a Green Light!!!

After a long series of delays, Warner Bros., MGM and New Line finally issued a statement today in which they announce the official thumbs up for Peter Jackson's The Hobbit! As most of you know, the film has been pushed back multiple times, lost director Guillermo Del Toro, and was teetering on the brink of complete mothballing at the hands of MGM's financial troubles. And if that wasn't enough, the beleaguered production even came under Union attack recently, for a charge that is being denied by both Jackson and the studios.

Well, the Tolkien fans can breathe a little easier now, as the three controlling studios that preside over the property, as well as the production, seem to have sorted things out, and have set the film to begin production in February 2011 under Peter Jackson's command.

Transformers 3 has become 'Comfortably Numb'

It seems Transformers 3 isn't going to be called Transformers 3 for long. Michael Bay and company seem to have settled on an actual title for the film, and that title is... Transformers: The Dark of the Moon.

Maybe Bay has been listening to too much Pink Floyd lately, or maybe he's going to edit his new Transformers movie so it syncs up perfectly with the band's seminal 1973 album Dark Side of the Moon.
Personally, it sounds a bit crap to me; I'd much rather they go all the way and call it Transformers: The Dark Side of the Moon!!! Ah well....
Transformers: The Dark of the Moon stars Shia La Beouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, Alan Tudyk, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey, and John Malkovich, and will hit theaters in 3D on July 1, 2011. Be sure to wear your favorite Floyd t-shirt on opening night.

New Spider-man movie cast member!!!

Just the other day, it was widely reported that Emma Stone was being offered the role of Mary Jane Watson in Marc Webb's Spider-Man reboot, to play opposite The Social Network's Andrew Garfield. Well, apparently that wasn't completely true, as the Easy A star has just been cast as Peter Parker's first girlfriend, Gwen Stacy!

Ong Bak 3

Tony Jaa (Ong Bak,Ong Bak 2,The Protector) is back!!! For a third time.
He defines Muay Thai.  Just check out this scene from The Protector. If you haven't already seen it, you are seriously missing out. He rose to fame outside Thailand with The Protector. The original Ong Bak gained a cult following, which led to the creation of its sequel and now, third part of the series.
Here is the official synopsis for the third installment:

The legend of Ong Bak 3 begins after Tien (Tony Jaa) has lost his fighting skills and his beloved stepfather at the Garuda’s Wing cliff from the raid led by Jom Rachan.  Tien is brought back to life with the help from Pim as well as Mhen and the Kana Khone villagers.  Deep into the meditation taught by Phra Bua, Tien finally is able to achieve ‘Nathayut’. His talents are put to the test again when his rivals including the Golden-Armored King’s Guard, the mysterious killers in black, and Bhuti Sangkha return for the final massive showdown.
He gives old school Jackie Chan a run for his money. Check out the trailer for Ong Bak 3.

Sacha Baron Cohen is a Queen!

Sacha Baron Cohen has signed on to play Freddie Mercury in an upcoming biopic written by Frost/Nixon scribe Peter Morgan.  The film will focus on “the band’s formative years, leading up to Queen’s appearance at Live Aid in 1985.
While Cohen is most well-known for his comedic characters in Borat and Bruno, it's going to be very interesting to see him delve into more serious matters as Mercury, but it's unclear whether he'll do his own singing. Production is expected to begin next year.

"Gypsy, give me your tears. If you will not give them to me, I will take them from you!"

Bruce Willis Says Even Death Can't Stop The Expendables

"The Expendables can't die".
Apparently, It's Sylvester Stallone's intention to bring back all of the cast members for a second round of 80's action mayhem, regardless of whether or not they've survived the first one.
"I talked to Sly and he's going for all the marbles this time, and he's going to get everybody in this time," said Willis. "Even Stone Cold Steve Austin who took two bullets in the last film, he's coming back, too. Hopefully, they'll start shooting it while we're young enough to survive."

Did you know?

Its incredible how quickly technology is progressing. This video is proof. Proof that Skynet is probably inevitable.

Jay's game of the week

It'll come as no suprise to those who know me that Minecraft is my game of the week. Through the power of word of mouth, lone Swedish programmer Markus Persson has created a hugely entertaining overnight hit. Minecraft allows players to interact with and mold an infinite stylised world of blocks.

This huge creative potential has attracted tens of thousands of people to the games website. Persson reported last week a record one day of sales at over €350,000 and out of Minecraft's success a new six man studio has been spawned.

I find this game fantastically addictive despite its alpha status. I can't recommend this game strongly enough to those how love to build and explore in their games. For now Minecraft is selling for under €10. So what are you waiting for?
